Iverson to Detroit
November 3rd 2008 21:05
The Detroit Pistons have traded for one of the league's most prolific scorers in history.
The Pistons shipped Chauncey Billups and Antonia McDyess to the Denver Nuggets for guard Allen Iverson.
Iverson played only one full season in Denver after being acquired by the Nuggets from the Sixers midway through the 2006-07 season.
Despite the acquisition of Iverson, the Nuggest could not get out of the first round of the Western Conference playoffs. Iverson played alongside Marcus Camby and Carmelo Anthony in Denver.
Pistons president Joe Dumars promised fans a shakeup after the team was eliminated from the Eastern Conference Finals by the eventual NBA Champion Boston Celtics.
The first bit of the shakeup was firing head coach Flip Saunders and hiring the untested and unproven Michael Curry.
The team tried to make a trade during the offseason but couldn't find any trading partners until now.
